One of my favorite images captured of this phenomenal woman is below, just after she was sworn in as madam president you can see her bodyguards on either side of her who are also the only women. She has promoted policies aimed at achieving social, economic, and political justice for all Tanzanians, however, I belive her greatest accomplishment since becoming president is how she has shown and inspired all the women young and old of East Africa to continue to belive in themselves, that anything is possible, no matter what the world says. She had previously served as Tanzania's Vice President from 2015 until 2021.Ĭonsidered a reformer since taking the presidency Samia has pushed for development and reforms in Tanzania. She was sworn in on 19 March 2021, succeeding John Magufuli after his death. Samia is the first female president of the country. I believe this is exactly what Samia Suluhu Hassan ( Madame President) did, she broke through the cultural barriers, went against the norm, and did what no Tanzanian woman has ever done before. Women are judged for being too flirty, too serious, too driven, and too maternal- why shouldn’t we just give it all up and be what we want! "Jana Harris" There comes a time in every woman’s life when she rejects the character society expects her to be, whether that be the straight-laced Good Girl, the Not Like the Other girl, or any other patriarchy-approved role. Woman standing at a podium with two flags on either side of her What do you guys think? Did "Grease Live!" live up to the hype? Overall, even though some parts were not as good as the original, FOX did an outstanding job on trying to recreate the original "Grease. The scene added a few minutes to the production that could have been condensed or used for another song. It seemed as if this scene was so long so that Julianne Hough could show off her dance moves. It seemed like more of a chance for Carly Rae Jepsen to show off her singing skills.Īlso an unnecessary part of the musical. This song felt a little inappropriate in the musical because it sounded so modern. Frenchy a ballad - "All I Need Is an Angel" It was a nice effort but didn't quite cross the finish line.ĩ. I know that there's nowhere to go to film the scene live in the studio but it just wasn't as good as I had hoped. It was a little unnecessary for her character to act so crazed. The not so great parts of "Grease Live!" 7.Patty Simcox's maniac behavior Seeing the original Frenchy giving advice to Carly Rae Jepsen was adorable. This was hands down my favorite part of the performance. However, after watching "Grease Live!", I think we are all swooning for Doody. Like many others, in the original "Grease" I did not find Doody's character attractive at all. Particularly in this song Hudgens' sass and spunk really brought the song together. Vanessa Hudgens completely captured the essence of Rizzo. She not only did a wonderful job bringing just enough sass to her character but was also able to bring a good amount of emotion to make us feel sorry for Rizzo. Hands down Vanessa Hudgens was the MVP of "Grease Live!". Jessie J's amazing intro brought everyone in the audience to life.even though it was raining.
